デルタの歴史はココから始まった! DELTA RACING 1100 Competition model 開発秘話に迫る!

The history of Delta began here! DELTA RACING 1100 Competition model Close to the secret story of development!

May I ask about the development process?

It was before the Delta brand.
At the time, I was participating in the D1GP with the support of Daigo Saito, and most of the D1GP cars at that time were around 500 to 600 horsepower.
Partly because of Daigo Saito's intentions, I thought, "If you have more power, you'll be more competitive!"
I was looking for an oil that can withstand over 800 horsepower and tried various things, but there were troubles such as engine metal blow (oil film shortage), piston cylinder damage, and gear breakage when used in dog transmission. .
After all, there are such troubles when it exceeds 800 horsepower (laughs)
Then you can't win unless you do something about oil! That's what happened.
Tuning was the main thing for Fnuts, but I have to do something about something that can't be helped! I was tempted to start oil development.

It's not something that can be started just by saying "I have to do something", right?

Hmm... well... that's how it's usually done, isn't it? (smile)
However, it was also a problem that was raised as an issue at the actual race site.
Someone has to do something, right? (smile)
If you don't actually have oil, let's make it! is the beginning of Delta.
That said, I couldn't do anything on my own, so I started by partnering with an oil manufacturing company.
I used to say manufacturing company, but in fact, I consulted with someone who was like my master, and that's what got me started.
Many of the famous manufacturers at the time had good overall balance.
That's why, if we were going to do Delta Oil, I thought we should narrow down the target to the pinpoint field of discussion and create our own unique sharp oil.

What did you pay most attention to when making your own oil?

This is.

  1. Absolute durability in harsh environments (maintenance of oil film that can withstand power up to 1000 horsepower)
  2. And it doesn't slow down the engine's response!

I focused on these two points.
As a result of repeating the test many times, we were able to create a good oil, so if everyone uses it, troubles will be reduced, and I think that the audience watching the D1 competition will enjoy it more if there are fewer troubles. I thought.
After that, there were many consultations about engine troubles from people who were considering participating in the competition, so I decided to sell it to those people.

One thing that bothers me is that since it is an edgy oil, wasn't there a lot of backlash within the industry when you started selling it?

Because it's a small company (laughs), it didn't become such a fuss.
Instead, it didn't sell well at first!
Even if the product had superiority, it did not put out large-scale advertisements in magazines.
I didn't even think about advertising there and becoming famous.
However, the number of people who started using it through word of mouth began to increase, and it gradually increased.
Then, people who used it on Minkara (user review site) posted their impressions of use.
There were reviews such as "I went to the circuit once or twice and it still seems to work!"
We will be surprised when we look at the user reviews later and say, "This is it!" (laughs)

When it is actually used in the field of competition, if word of mouth says, "Oil that has cleared the issues!", the trust will be higher!

At that time, there weren't many "competition-specific oils" that were trained from practice in the field of competition.
For example, at a driving event, you run at full throttle for 20 minutes in one heat.
If you go to such a driving event, you will definitely look at the oil temperature gauge and oil pressure gauge.
After all, if you run in a harsh environment, the oil pressure will drop, and you may think, "The oil temperature has already exceeded 120 degrees, I'm a little worried...".
"I'm always worried that the oil will get too hot and soften." , I heard a lot of voices saying that they were able to eliminate their anxiety, and I was convinced that "the thing I was making was no mistake!" I wonder if it's connected?

Listening to the story so far, it seems that the oil was made with a market in rather than a product out.

That's what happened as a result.
It was important for me to have them experience it and say, "I'm so glad I tried using Delta's engine oil."
It's not like we're spending money on advertising, and we don't have brand power as a manufacturer from the beginning, right? So I thought I had to create something that people who want to use it would understand the goodness of using it.
``Then you can't make it without listening to the voices of the site!'' is my principle of action (laughs)

What kind of users do you want to use this oil in the future?

A car with a horsepower of 900 to 1000 or more and using alcohol-based fuel (competition gasoline)!
a! There is also a gear oil in the competition oil.
This is perfect for dog missions (sequential dog gear)!
I would like you to try this as well.
I think it's good for people who want to participate in endurance races and competitions in other categories, not just for drifting, and for people who want to minimize machine trouble with their competition vehicles.
